The downtown Sacramento ice rink is attracting crowds, bringing energy to the area and driving business to nearby restaurants and bars.

Earlier in the day, the rink was filled with people, and surrounding businesses saw an influx of customers.

“It was fun, but like I’m hungry, I’m just so hungry right now,” one skater said.

Sareh Basharat, who was ice skating downtown, said, “I was going to come with my friends on a different occasion, and they suggested coming to the restaurants as well.”

She also noted the rink’s appeal to those dining nearby.

“I’ve seen people come from the restaurants, see the ice skating, and decide to stop by,” Basharat said.

Local businesses are noticing the impact of the rink’s popularity.

“It brings a lot of people out to K Street. I think this block especially has been kind of dead for the last couple months,” said Kyle Lucas, a bartender at Parkside Sacramento. “So it’s nice to have a lot of people come out, you know, go to restaurants, bars, and just happy bodies out here.”

Solomon Tippens, who spent time at the ice rink, said, “It’s the holiday season, and you know a lot of family is out traveling. You know, it just brings a lot of comfort and happiness to the area where we are at because you don’t normally see a lot of things like this in Sacramento.”

Parkside Sacramento also shared plans to host EDM-style parties in collaboration with the ice rink later this year, with announcements expected soon.
