Seth Jarvis scored with 17 seconds to go in overtime as the Hurricanes remained unbeaten with a 4-3 win on Saturday night over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers. Captain Jordan Staal gave Carolina its first lead at 18:30 of the second period, with Logan Stankoven and Taylor Hall also scoring in the win. Defenseman Jaccob Slavin left the game with a lower-body injury, and his status is day-to-day as the road trip begins. Jarvis has a team-best three goals so far, while Hall has two goals and three points, and Sebastian Aho and Shayne Gostisbehere each recorded three assists thus far.

San Jose squandered a two-goal lead in the final 9:31 of regulation and lost 46 seconds into overtime to the visiting Anaheim Ducks in a wild 7-6 contest. Macklin Celebrini, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft, notched three assists for the Sharks, as did Will Smith. Jeff Skinner’s goal at 5:34 of the third period extended the San Jose lead to 6-4 before the Ducks came back. Tyler Toffoli, Ryan Reaves, Mario Ferraro, John Klingberg, and Adam Gautette had the other Shark tallies. Skinner leads the team with two goals, while Celebrini, Smith, and Dmitry Orlov have three assists each.
