LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A former YouTuber is being held in Las Vegas after California authorities filed several charges of sex crimes against him.
Records show Bryant Turhanemmerson Moreland, 35, was booked into Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear for a hearing in Las Vegas Justice Court on Monday, Nov. 9.
The Kern County District Attorney’s Office in Bakersfield, California, said it filed a criminal complaint against Moreland, also known as EDP445.
He faces charges of attempt to commit a lewd act upon a child, meeting a minor for lewd purposes, contacting a minor with intent to commit sexual offense, and distributing or showing pornography to a minor.
Prosecutors in Kern County said they began an extensive investigation into Moreland based on statements made in a documentary called “The Sick Mind of EDP445,” which was released on YouTube in August.
The charges stem from a 2021 incident involving a child under 14 years old. The D.A.’s office reviewed the incident in 2021 and 2022 but said they could not pursue charges at the time, particularly because of a lack of cooperation from the reporting parties.
Moreland’s comments in the documentary led prosecutors and sheriff’s investigators to reopen the case, and the D.A.’s office determined the new evidence met the evidentiary threshold for filing criminal charges.
An arraignment hearing will be scheduled after Moreland is extradited to Kern County.
