Thanksgiving is still a few weeks away. But for those interested in serving a pre-cooked or special turkey this holiday season, the time to start planning is now.

While Butterball turkeys are still a popular option, people living in the Sacramento area have a bounty of bird choices.

Cooks in the Farm-to-Fork capital can choose between organic turkeys, heritage breeds with more dark meat and complex flavors, and poultry raised using regenerative agricultural practices which protect soil health.

Plus, people hosting small gatherings and those who don’t want to tackle a whole turkey can select smaller turkey breasts, or even fully prepared birds that just need to be warmed up.

Here’s a collection of local markets, farms, and restaurants where you can pre-order a turkey for Thanksgiving 2026. It’s best to book in advance, though, as many businesses have ordering deadlines or will sell out quickly.
