A 21-year-old man reported missing early Sunday was identified as the person who died after police responded to a medical distress call under the Howe Avenue Bridge later that morning in Sacramento.
The Sacramento County coroner identified him as Frankie Larios and said the cause of death was undetermined. Police told KCRA 3 officers had responded to a missing person’s report near the 7500 block of La Riviera Drive before 3:10 a.m.
Larios was a Sacramento State student who went missing after “a night of fun for Halloween,” according to a GoFundMe post by his San Diego-based family that said they believed his death was a “tragic accident.”
The family described him as “patient, kind, funny, reliable, caring and hardworking.”
“Frankie enjoyed the simple things in life,” the message said. “He loved animals, video games, music, and spending time with his girlfriend, family, and friends. He also enjoyed his job at In-N-Out, where he was a hardworking and valued member of the team.”
KCRA 3 has reached out to Sacramento State for comment.
The Sacramento Police Department said officers responded to the medical aid call before 6:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Howe Avenue.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said the incident was being treated as a death investigation.
Anyone has any information regarding the incident is urged to contact the police department at 916-808-5471.
