Helping communities become more resilient to extreme weather conditions, residents of Skyline, Paradise Hills and surrounding communities can learn more about a stormwater infrastructure improvement project currently under design by the City of San Diego.
Community members are invited to attend an upcoming public meeting on the Jamacha Waterway Revitalization Project on Nov. 9, 2026.
The City of San Diego recently hosted the first community meeting at the Malcolm X Branch Library in Valencia Park, as part of the City’s ongoing outreach efforts for the Jamacha Waterway Revitalization Project, which builds on a series of community workshops held in 2025.
The project aims to improve stormwater infrastructure along the Jamacha Waterway between Imperial Avenue and Beacon Drive while creating community benefits, including expanded blue-green space, water quality improvements, increased channel capacity, a multi-purpose trail and a new pedestrian bridge.
At the upcoming public meeting, the project team will provide updates, review and share the survey results collected from previous outreach efforts and answer questions from community members. Attendees will also have a final opportunity to visit information stations and discuss specific project elements with department management, engineering and planning staff.
Community input continues to play an important role as the project advances through the design phase. The upcoming community meeting will provide the final opportunity for residents to learn about the latest developments, ask questions and share feedback.
The next public meeting is scheduled for Nov. 9, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Malcolm X Branch Library, located at 5148 Market St. in Valencia Park. The meeting is open to the public.
The Jamacha Waterway Revitalization Project is part of the City’s broader efforts to reduce flood risk, improve water quality and create more accessible community spaces within the Chollas watershed.
