FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — A car crash that caused both cars to roll over sent 4 people to the hospital on Saturday.
CHP officer responded to a car accident at the intersection of Lincoln and Marks Avenue a bit after 3:30 p.m.
Initial reports indicated multiple people had been thrown from the cars and a car had exploded, but officers determined neither report was accurate.
CHP says that a Ford Focus was traveling northbound on Marks Avenue towards the intersection.
For reasons still under investigation, the driver failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a Lexus SUV traveling eastbound on Lincoln Avenue.
After the impact, both vehicles overturned and came to rest in a nearby dirt field.
The Ford also struck a wooden PG&E utility pole.
Two adults from the Ford were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The two adults in the Lexus were also taken to Community Regional Medical Center with injuries ranging from moderate to major.
All four were wearing seat belts, and alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have contributed to the crash.
