As much of Northern California remains damp Friday after the bulk of a Thursday storm moves out, another weather system will arrive late this weekend, bringing with it more widespread rain and light snow.RainThere may still be lingering showers in parts of the region Friday, but most of the steady rain has already passed. As of 6 a.m. Friday, these are the rain totals so far:Sacramento: 1.43 inchesMarysville: 1.21 inchesFairfield: 1.04 inchesModesto: 0.85 inchesStockton: 0.72 inchesSnow Cooler air will drain in Thursday night into Friday morning, dropping the snow level to about 6,500 feet, but at this point, moisture will be running out. A couple of slushy inches of snow is expected over the Tahoe summits Thursday night into Friday morning. This could be enough for chain controls and minor travel delays.Bigger snow totals are expected over the Sonora and Ebbetts Pass. When chain controls are in effect, the speed limit on Interstate 80 is 30 mph. On Highway 50, the speed limit is 25 mph. Looking aheadMore rain and snow will arrive overnight Saturday and last through overnight Sunday into Monday evening.Meteorologist Tamara Berg said snow levels could range between 6,000 to 7,000 feet. While it won’t be as much as Thursday’s system, the weekend weather could be enough to affect travel.The KCRA 3 weather team is issuing Impact Days for Sunday and Monday because of how rain and snow could affect outdoor activities and travel.Below are estimated rainfall totals from Sunday through Monday. Rain

There may still be lingering showers in parts of the region Friday, but most of the steady rain has already passed.

Snow

Cooler air will drain in Thursday night into Friday morning, dropping the snow level to about 6,500 feet, but at this point, moisture will be running out. A couple of slushy inches of snow is expected over the Tahoe summits Thursday night into Friday morning. This could be enough for chain controls and minor travel delays.
