The California Highway Patrol announced Friday that a driver had recently decided to drive while intoxicated and crashed into a brush area and trees off a local roadway.

“Fortunately, no one else was hurt — but it could have ended very differently,” CHP said. “Our local roads are narrow, winding, and unforgiving — many with steep shoulders and blind curves. Alcohol or drugs impair reaction time and judgment, making it impossible to safely navigate these roads.”
Instead of driving drunk, CHP said to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, call a friend or rideshare, and stay where you are if you’ve been drinking.
