Sacramento State hosts Idaho tonight at 6 p.m., honoring 24 seniors in their final home game. The Hornets are looking for a third straight win.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State Hornets return to Hornet Stadium tonight at 6 p.m. for their final home appearance of the year, hosting the Idaho Vandals in a Big Sky Conference matchup.

Game Preview

Sacramento State enters Saturday’s game carrying significant momentum. The Hornets are 4–2 in Big Sky play and have won two straight, rolling past Portland State 52–24 last week after a 35–13 win over Eastern Washington.

Before kickoff, the program will honor 24 seniors playing their final home game. Five of those players spent their entire college careers with Sacramento State, contributing to conference titles and FCS playoff runs.

Fourteen are completing their first season with the Hornets, and 15 members of the group have already earned their bachelor’s degrees.

Idaho arrives in Sacramento at 4–6 overall and 2–4 in conference play after a season disrupted by injuries to key contributors.

The Vandals are led by quarterback Joshua Wood, who has been the team’s most dynamic offensive threat. Wood has thrown for 1,663 yards and 14 touchdowns with just three interceptions, while also rushing for 443 yards and six scores.

Running back Elisha Cummings adds versatility, averaging 5.2 yards per carry and over 12 yards per reception.

Sacramento State’s own ground game has been a major storyline. Running back Rodney Hammond Jr. has been nearly unstoppable over the past two weeks, rushing for 191 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 carries at Portland State.

He added 49 more yards through receiving and returns, finishing with 240 all-purpose yards and earning Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors.

That performance followed a career-best outing at Eastern Washington, where Hammond ran for 208 yards and two touchdowns, becoming just the 11th Hornet ever to record a 200-yard rushing game.

With Sacramento State seeking its third straight win and Idaho fighting to close strong, tonight’s matchup sets the stage for another competitive Big Sky Conference showdown.
