It’s a shame that so many San Franciscans snooze right through their city’s finest restaurant neighborhoods, but Greg Lutes, who runs Michelin star-holding 3rd Cousin, knows his neighborhood Bernal Heights is one for the gourmands. He opened Precita Social at the end of summer 2025, a place to honor his nostalgic side with the same careful technique and precision. Though more low-key than Lutes’s nearby octopus and uni creme brulee-laden outfit, Precita Social’s menu maintains a level of class.
The ambiance and interior at this restaurant matches much of what came before it: the hallowed site of former stunner Marlena and Foliage from chef Mo Bejar. That looks like handsome blues and browns, little succulents on surfaces and windows providing views of Precita Park. Wear something nice, but don’t overdo it.
Parking in this slice of the neighborhood can get a bit tricky. On a busy night, it may dry up quickly. Aim for up the hill by the nearby church rather than along the park.
