Breakfast at Fairmont Century Plaza

Fairmont Century Plaza wants to start your day with an indulgent breakfast.

Fairmont Century Plaza

Century City is turning into a strikingly over-the-top dining destination in Los Angeles, with an array of high-end experiences that have plenty of appeal for both locals and tourists.

So let’s start with the most important meal of the day: The most extravagant new breakfast in Los Angeles comes with a complimentary hotel room. In addition to a room with a comfy king bed, the Ultra-Luxe Weekend Breakfast ($500 for two people) at Fairmont Century Plaza offers a caviar-laden multi-course feast.

Breakfast is at the hotel’s Lumière brasserie, and guests are whisked to a table that’s set up with classic caviar service (complete with blinis, crème fraîche, egg and chive blossoms), freshly based pastries and a resplendent array of organic seasonal fruit accompanied by Greek yogurt. There’s the requisite Veuve Clicquot Champagne to pair with this spread. Or you can choose a morning pick-me-up in the form of icy vodka instead. Juice, coffee and tea are also included, of course.

Each guest gets a choice of a main course, and obviously there’s more caviar involved if you want. A perfectly fluffy omelette, loaded with king crab and lobster, is folded with caviar and served with truffle fingerling potatoes and baby asparagus. For an appropriately fancypants version of steaks and eggs, there’s grilled tenderloin with olive oil fried eggs, black truffle jus and roasted tomato.

There’s a serene wellness center and gym at the hotel if you need to balance out your breakfast indulgence. Or you can take a quick stroll to the Westfield Century City shopping mall where new restaurants like Momofuku-does-American-food Super Peach, paella player Casa Dani and a beautiful outpost of Katsuya are open for lunch and dinner whenever you’re hungry again.

This is in addition to a formidable Westfield Century City dining lineup with perpetually packed hot spots like Din Tai Fung, Javier’s, HaiDiLao, Ramen Nagi and a slew of quick-service, dessert and beverage slingers ranging from SunLife Organics to Cha Cha Matcha to Bacio di Latte. If you’re looking for a food crawl in between stops to Aritzia and Alo and Pop Mart, this mall is the intersection of everything and all of it. Just keep in mind that some of these restaurants get extremely busy. Ramen Nagi will likely require waiting in line. And if you want to eat at Din Tai Fung, put your name on the list and then go walk/shop/snack around the mall while you wait for your table.

Fairmont Century Plaza, part of a development with a forthcoming location of Wally’s Wine & Spirits, also keeps adding excitement to the dining landscape with pop-ups (Michelin-starred Camphor was a big hit with its steak frites nights at the hotel last year) and holiday programming. For a cozy and soul-warming winter escape, Fairmont Century Plaza is bringing back its festive chalets from November 22-December 31. Inspired by après-ski experiences in the Alps, these candlelit chalets offer fondue and charcuterie-and-cheese boards paired with select pours of Macallan. If you expect to get tipsy, maybe plan ahead and book breakfast that comes with a hotel room.
