Another prominent Democrat appears poised to make a run at being the next governor of California.
U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, whose district is located in the Bay Area, is expected to launch his campaign soon, Politico reports.
The move, which has been rumored in recent days but seemed to be confirmed by a fundraising page that appeared online, could be publicly announced on Thursday, when the former presidential candidate is scheduled to appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

If and when he announces, Swalwell will be joining a crowded field, though the race is far from decided.
Frontrunner Katie Porter, a former U.S. representative from Orange County, has been hurt by damaging viral videos, and other contenders include former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra.
On the Republican side, frontrunners include political commentator Steve Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco.
