CALIFORNIA (FOX26) — Sixty students from the Valley will travel to Sacramento on Wednesday to attend the annual National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) conference.
The students from different schools in the valley, including Justin Garza, Central East, University High, and Riverdale, aim to advocate for the inclusion of mental health education in their school curriculum.
Justin Willis joins them in North Fresno for their trip to Sacramento.
During their visit, they will rally at the state capital and meet with legislators to discuss pressing issues such as teen suicide, depression, bullying, and the threat of school shootings.
The students will depart at 5 a.m. and return by 8 p.m., participating in the conference’s first day before heading back home.
Justin will accompany them and return with a full recap of the students’ efforts.
