In 2021, fine dining chef duo Corey Lee and Jeong-In Hwang joined forces and bring a twist on the Korean barbecue format to San Francisco with San Ho Won. Rather than cooked on tabletop burners, meats are expertly prepared in the kitchen, arriving tableside just seconds after they’re pulled off the grill.
San Ho Won is a quick walk away from two of the city’s best bars, Trick Dog and True Laurel. Both are award-winning bars with excellent cocktails and food (although after that big meal, you won’t be blamed for skipping the snacks).
Even if you’re full, don’t skip the desserts. The injeolmisu — the restaurant’s take on the tiramisu — is a revelation. The tea- and chungju-soaked ladyfingers are layered with misugaru, mascarpone, and (surprisingly) rice cakes, which adds a nice chew to each bite.
