HOUSTON, Texas—Ela Freiman and Genevieve George swam the top-two times in SJSU history in the 200 IM to highlight the first day of the Phill Hansel Invitational for the San José State women’s swimming and diving team.
Freiman broke her own school record in the 200 IM, finishing fourth at 1:59.29. She is the first Spartan to break the 2-minute mark in the race.
George now holds the second-fastest time in the 200 IM as she was sixth at 2:00.00.
The 200 freestyle relay team swam the fifth-fastest time in school history as they finished sixth at 1:31.63.
Lais e Silva swam the best time of the season in the 50 free at 23.11 to finish 11th.
The 400 medley relay team finished the day for the Spartans by swimming the third-fastest time in school history at 3:40.39, to place sixth.
UP NEXT – Day two of the Phill Hansel Invitational begins Thursday at 10 a.m. CT/8 a.m. PT with preliminaries followed by finals at 5 p.m. CT/3 p.m. PT.
