BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing a man in a drunken driving hit-and-run incident in October, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Nicholas Aguirre, Jr., 38 was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run causing injury, according to police.

Aguirre was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility, police said.

Jared Paul Mitchell, 47, of Bakersfield was found dead in the 7900 block of Camino Media just after 8 a.m. Oct 12, according to officials.

Investigators with Bakersfield police have been working to confirm what caused Mitchell’s death since October.

Police also previously said preliminary evidence suggested a car may have struck Mitchell, but no vehicle nor driver were at the scene.
