BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, November 21.

The checkpoint will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment as well as checking drivers for proper licensing.

Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving which includes not only illegal narcotics, but many prescription drugs, marijuana, and even some over-the-counter medications.

Those caught while driving impaired can expect jail time, fines, fees, and DUI classes.

If you suspect someone is driving impaired, BPD says to call 911.
