Beaumont, Texas (KFDM) — The Texas Department of Public Safety has arrested 11 men in an undercover prostitution sting operation aimed at combating human trafficking.
Each man was charged with Solicitation of Prostitution, a state jail felony. Bond was set at $5,000.
KFDM obtained probable cause affidavits from Magistrate Marc DeRouen, detailing several of the arrests, which contain similar facts.
On Wednesday, November 19, Special Agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety conducted an undercover operation in which officers posted ads on a site known for human trafficking and solicitation of prostitution, according to the affidavits.
Undercover officers were allegedly contacted by the individuals, who offered to pay fees to another person for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct.
The fees listed on the affidavits we obtained ranged from $100 to $200, depending on the type of sexual conduct sought.
The men arrived at the location of the sting operation, the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Beaumont West at 5820 Walden Road.
According to the affidavits we saw, the sting operation took place on Wednesday afternoon.
Each man was taken into custody separately once he arrived at a pre-determined room.
