October is National Seafood Month, and you can find happenings heralding that briny fact up and down the California coast.
And over at the San Pedro Fish Market? A particularly piquant party has popped up for the last few years, one that puts the appetizing spotlight on the eatery’s best-known dish: the World Famous Shrimp Tray.
It’s Shrimpfest, a flavorful event that has a tempting promise — the happening is a “more than you can eat” affair — and a vibrant atmosphere.
That comes courtesy of the live mariachi music, oh yes, and the fact that Shrimpfest is now a tradition for those lovers of lemon squeezes, tangy cocktail sauces, and the fruits of the sea.
Taco stations, oyster stations, and dishes like Seafood Mac and Cheese add to the lively, one-day-only celebration.
This is all taking place at the Long Beach location — repeat, you’ll want to head to the San Pedro Fish Market in Long Beach — on the evening of Oct. 17.
Make that early evening: Put on your “more than you can eat” pants and head over from 6 to 9 o’clock.
The shrimp-tacular will be unfurling on the second floor of the restaurant, which promises views of Alamitos Bay. Oh yes: And a meet-and-greet with cast members from Amazon Prime Video’s “Kings of Fi$h,” too.
One thing you’ll “net” by attending? A $25 voucher, which you are welcome to use on a future visit to the San Pedro Fish Market.
Because once a shrimpist, always a shrimpist, is the general rule among seafood aficinados.
And the shrimpiest revelry around, one that hails the hankerings of National Seafood Month, is coming ashore in Long Beach Oct. 17.
