A cool and unsettled atmospheric system that began moving over the San Diego area at the beginning of the week brought widespread downpours and gusty winds to the region today.
As of late Tuesday afternoon, bands of wet clouds had delivered nearly two inches of precipitation to some mountain areas, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which, despite the government shutdown, updated Tuesday’s rainfall totals.

Wednesday night will be clear and colder, according to NBC 7’s Sheena Parveen, who said temperatures would drop into the mid 50s at the coast and upper 40s inland. Thursday afternoon will be warmer as an offshore flow begins to develop, which will strengthen into the weekend with warming temperatures. The weekend will stay dry.
