Bicyclist killed following hit-and-run in Petaluma, CHP says

A bicyclist was killed Saturday morning in Petaluma after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, according to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer David DeRutte.

The bicyclist, an adult male, was found off the roadway on Rainsville Road but authorities say the suspect vehicle and the time of the crash remained unknown late Saturday morning.

Due to foggy conditions, DeRutte said the bicyclist was not visible for passing vehicles to see.

Officers were still investigating the scene at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, DeRutte said.
