FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office recognized five women who graduated from the Fresno County Jail Sewing Program.
The Fresno County Jail Sewing Program was established in 2022.
The program aims to teach incarcerated individuals foundational sewing techniques and standard machines through practice-based coaching.
Members are known as The Quilting Crew, who will have acquired a new skill set in their journey into the community and employment after release.
The department wants to recognize Laundry Supervisor Melinda Lujan and Correctional Officer Cheryl Blair for their dedication and hard work to keep the program going.
