BAKERSFIELD, (KGET) — The knockout rounds on NBC’s “The Voice” conclude Monday night. Bakersfield’s Aaron Nichols already won his knockout battle and moves on to the playoffs.

But there’s something new for this season — Nichols is a finalist to perform in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day and he’ll need your help to get there.

Country music legend coach Reba McEntire is clearly a big fan of Bakersfield’s Aaron Nichols. Nichols won previous rounds and is looking for a chance to perform on an even bigger stage.

“This season on ‘The Voice’ they have this thing called ‘The Mic Drop’ where every coach gets to nominate one of the members of their team for a chance to win a big show at the Rose Parade that’s going to be seen by millions people,” Nichols said.

Nichols was surprised that McEntire chose him.

“I didn’t think I’d get it, there’s so many great singers on my team,” Nichols said. “There was a one-in-four shot to be that mic drop nomination. More than that for me because I’m on team Reba so there’s like one-in-eight and she gave it to me. She saw something. I apparently impressed her enough for this and I’m grateful I did.”

“Still blown away.”

The fourth and final Mic Drop will happen Monday night during the last knockout round of the season. Then voting opens up for a shot at performing at the Rose Parade.

“I don’t know everything that got me here, but I’m so glad I am,” he said.

Voting for the Rose Parade spot begins at 7 p.m. and runs through 4 a.m. Tuesday. So you only have a couple hours to do it. Cast your vote for Bakersfield’s Aaron Nichols at this link.
