FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Tipoff for a new season of Bulldog basketball is getting closer and closer.
Fresno State men’s basketball opens its second season with head coach Vance Walberg in just three weeks.
“This is year 48 for me, so I’ve been around for a while. Year 47 was the toughest of my life, not even a question, hands down,” coach Walberg said. “I hate losing and with all the stuff that happened last year, between the injuries and the off-court garbage, it was tough, so for me it was really important for the type of kids that we brought in, we wanted to make sure we got the right culture kids and that was one of the big things that we really, really stressed.”
College basketball website KenPom put out its 2026 preseason rankings earlier this week and ranked Walberg’s Bulldogs at 190th across the country.
That’s last place in comparison to other Mountain West programs.
You can get your first look to see how the Bulldogs turn around from last year’s 6-26 record when the season tips off on November 3 against Fresno Pacific.
