For years, Chuck and Lisa Stanislawski dreamed of owning the home next door to them in Pasadena, Calif. The couple even wrote a letter to the owner asking her if they could buy it. In 1997, she finally agreed, selling them the ranch-style house for around $700,000.
“It is really the nicest lot on the water because it has more lakefront and it is a square lot,” says Lisa, who owns a California-based manufacturing company. “The other ones are funny, like pie shaped.”
