Re “Months into an RV parking crackdown, homeless San Diegans are drowning in tickets” (Nov. 2): I feel sorry for the people living in RVs and cars, but they were warned about the law forbidding overnight parking along Mission Bay. The city has provided several safe parking lots, so there is no excuse for these people to keep parking there. The police also notified them that ticketing would begin July 1. The ones who’ve received tickets have no one to blame but themselves.
After they get a second ticket, the city should force them to move to one of the approved lots. The city also needs to collect the fines, and, after three unpaid tickets on the same vehicle, it should be impounded and confiscated, forcing the owner into a shelter.
