For the first time since 2009, Fresno State’s men’s basketball team will step back in time onto the hardwood at the Selland Arena, a building synonymous with the program’s identity and some of its most celebrated eras.
When the Bulldogs face off against CSU Bakersfield on Sunday, Nov. 30, the game will not just be the ninth game of the 2025-26 season — it will be a homecoming nearly two-decades in the making, and one that will air exclusively on KSEE24/CBS47’s new TV streaming platform.
The station could not carry the matchup on traditional television due to pre-existing Sunday football contracts. However, an app launched in April — the KSEE24/CBS47+ app — created the opportunity for fans unable to make the trek to Downtown Fresno to catch the game at home.
The station’s streaming service has steadily picked up traction, said Matt Morse, vice president and general manager at Nexstar Fresno. Morse said his team is encouraged by how viewers have embraced the platform’s mix of news programming and new digital-first shows.
“We currently stream all of our newscasts on there,” he said. “In addition to that, we also have different shows that are created either on our premises or are created and sent to us.”
The Nov. 30 game will stream only on connected televisions — not available on mobile devices — through KSEE24/CBS47+. Bakersfield viewers will also be able to stream the game through the KGET+ app. Both affiliates of NBC launched their streaming apps this year, KGET+ launching in June.
Viewers who need assistance troubleshooting or downloading the app can find tutorials on the station’s website.
Even though Selland last hosted the Bulldogs in 2009, Morse said the logistics should feel familiar to viewers. The game will be simulcast with longtime Fresno State voice Paul Loeffler and analyst Matt Norville calling the action for both radio and television.
“Any time you can have the voice of Fresno State, it’s always great to have,” Morse said. “We’ve used Matt Norville before too when he did the football broadcast. He’s fantastic; they really do have a good team over there.”
Some nostalgia around the event comes on the back of decades of Fresno State basketball inside the Selland Arena; the team called Downtown Fresno its home from the 1967-68 season through 2003, posting a 390-135 home record. The Boyd Grant coaching era from 1977 to 1986 saw some of the university’s most successful years, with Selland Arena given the nickname “Grant’s Tomb” for their stretch of dominance including three NCAA tournament appearances and the 1983 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) title.
Under Jerry Tarkanian, the Bulldogs went 104-79 between 1995 and 2002, with seven-straight postseason appearances and a return to the NCAA tournament in 2000 following a 16-year drought.
Selland Arena also hosted 49 consecutive sellouts during the program’s peak years.
Morse said the broadcast will lean into that history, planning a 30-minute extended pregame show aiming to spotlight where former Bulldogs are now and highlight the history of the program from their days in Downtown Fresno.
“A lot of people, like myself, are going to want to take our kids because our fathers took us when we were younger,” Morse said. “It would be kind of nice to see some of that… some of those old things that were there.”
