It is the sixth day of San Jose Sharks training camp, and there was a change of pace by head coach Ryan Warsofsky.

It is unusual for a team to hold a scrimmage after the first round of cuts, but the Sharks changed that. The roster was split into two groups, A & B, but only group A will scrimmage.

Group B will only practice, except for a few players who are listed to move to Group A to join the scrimmage.

Traditionally, at the start of camp, there are three groups: two scrimmage each other while the third group just practices. Warsofsky has bucked that trend, albeit in a limited scrimmage.

Group B took the ice first at San Jose Sharks training camp and displayed some fresh lines. Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith remained on a line together but got a new winger. Philipp Kurashev slid from center to the left with the Sharks stars.

Cam Lund shed his no-contact orange jersey, but wasn’t part of line rushes.

Celebrini and Lund remained on the bench during a drill involving some battle aspects. Coach Warsofsky has used caution with Celebrini since he returned from an illness.

During Tuesday’s practice, Celebrini didn’t participate in battle drills in the corners. The San Jose Sharks center worked on face-offs with guest coach Zenon Konopka.

Once again on Wednesday, Celebrini didn’t participate in battle drills. He worked with Gabe Carriere and Matt Davis on the other end of the ice as the shooter.

Group A’s scrimmage lines had a more NHL-like feel to them, as they featured the majority of players considered to be at an NHL level. Top prospect Michael Misa stayed with William Eklund, as he has throughout camp, while Tyler Toffoli joined the line.
