Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department Wednesday asked for the public’s help in identifying and arresting two drivers who ran over a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles.
Police said the hit-and-run collisions happened on Oct. 5 at around 5:45 a.m. when a woman was crossing the street at the intersection of Central Avenue and 14th Place.
First, the female pedestrian was struck by a dark-colored SUV, possibly a 2018 to 2025 model of Ford Explorer. The victim was thrown to the ground, but the driver did not stop to help the victim.
Then, as she was lying on the ground, a blue SUV, maybe an older Honda CR-V, ran her over. The second driver, too, took off without stopping and offering to help the victim.
The woman is not suffering from life-threatening injuries after being taken to a hospital by LA Fire Department paramedics.
Community members who offer information that leads to the arrests and convictions of the drivers may be able to receive a reward of up to $25,000 according to the city ordinance.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Officer Balderas, Central Traffic Division, Collision Investigation Follow-Up Unit, at (213) 833-3713 or via email at 41911@lapd.online, or the Central Traffic Division watch commander at (213) 833-3746.
