Holiday carolers, snow play and performances by the San Pedro City Ballet will highlight this year’s tree lighting ceremony in San Pedro.
The ceremonial tree lighting will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in the San Pedro Town Square — in front of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum at Harbor Boulevard and Sixth Street — with activities going all evening from 4 to 8 p.m. There will also be a marionette show.
Those attending are asked to bring an unwrapped toy as a donation to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor.
That same evening, the annual Port of Los Angeles Boat Parade will also take place from 6 to 8 p.m., adjacent to the Town Square and along the port’s Main Channel.
The following day, on Sunday, Dec. 7, the 45th annual San Pedro Spirit of the Holidays Parade will step off in downtown San Pedro.
The parade, from 1 to 3 p.m., will start at 13th Street and Pacific Avenue and then head right (east) on Sixth Street, ending at Sixth and Palos Verdes streets.
Announcers will be located throughout the parade route to provide commentary. A main stage will be set up at Sixth and Pacific.
