SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A turkey’s unexpected adventure had deputies responding to a unique call for service recently. The bird had taken a stroll through the neighborhood, leading to a lighthearted incident.

Deputies Lang and Mason-Burrows arrived on the scene after a caller reported that a neighbor had their family turkey in a coop. Upon investigation, the neighbor revealed they discovered the turkey wandering in the street.

After sorting out the situation, the deputies ensured the turkey was safely returned to its home, narrowly avoiding becoming a holiday dinner.

Though the turkey didn’t receive an official pardon from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies may have overheard it boasting about “knowing people.”

Sacramento County residents are reminded to have a safe Thanksgiving.
