Northern California forecast: Foggy Friday morning, mild weekend expected

KCRA 3 WEATHER. AND A FOGGY START TO THIS FRIDAY. YES, IT FEELS LIKE GROUNDHOG DAY. EVERY MORNING IS FOGGY. AND THEN BY MIDDAY, WE’RE CROSSING OUR FINGERS FOR A LITTLE SUNSHINE. DIDN’T SHOW UP YESTERDAY, AND TEMPERATURES DIDN’T EVEN GET OUT OF THE 50S TODAY. THE PLAN IS TO SNEAK INTO THE 50S, BUT WE’RE LOOKING OUT RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN TELL IT’S GOING TO BE ANOTHER GRAY DAY WITH THAT FOG LINGERING IN THE AIR 45 DEGREES. THAT TEMPERATURE APPROACHING THE DEW POINT TEMPERATURE OF 43. THE AIR IS PRETTY SATURATED. THAT’S WHY WE HAVE THAT FOG DEVELOP. 45 IN YUBA CITY AS WELL. STOCKTON MODESTO COMING IN AT 47, CURRENTLY 39, IN AUBURN, WHERE THE FOG HAS BEEN ON AND OFF, PRETTY DENSE, AND IN TRUCKEE AND SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, TEMPERATURES AROUND 25 DEGREES IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE 31. THE WINDS ARE VERY LIGHT AT LEAST, BUT THAT IS ONE REASON WHY WE HAVE THAT FOG. IT’S NOT REALLY PUSHING IT AROUND, MIXING IT AROUND, AND THAT MEANS THAT THE FOG THAT’S DEVELOPED, IT’S JUST GOING TO SIT THERE THIS MORNING. IT’S IN THE USUAL SPOTS, TEMPERATURES OR FOG, RATHER UP I-80 INTO LINCOLN AND ROSEVILLE. THEY’RE SEEING A LITTLE MIST RIGHT NOW. AND YOU CAN FOLLOW THAT JUUL DOWN, DOWN THE GOLDEN CHAIN INTO SAN ANDREAS AND COPPEROPOLIS. THEY’RE SEEING SOME PRETTY DENSE FOG, JUST A LIGHT LAYER UP AND DOWN THE VALLEY. BUT THAT LIGHT LAYER IS GOING TO LIFT, BECOME OVERCAST SKIES, AND THAT’S GOING TO CAP TEMPERATURES TODAY AT 52. LATER ON THIS AFTERNOON, BEFORE WE FALL BACK IN THE 40S FOR THE EVENING IN THE FOOTHILLS, A LITTLE SUNNIER BECAUSE THEY’LL BE SITTING ABOVE THE FOG. TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO WARM INTO THE UPPER 50S. AND IN THE SIERRA, WHICH I THINK IS GOING TO BE THE PERFECT DAY TO SPEND THE DAY. TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE IN THE MID 50S, AND THEY’RE GOING TO BE SEEING MUCH MORE SUNSHINE THAN DOWN HERE IN THE VALLEY. LOOKING OUT AT YOUR NEXT SEVEN DAYS, WE DO HAVE A WEATHER SYSTEM THAT IS GOING TO PASS US. IT’S A WEAK ONE, BUT IT WILL PASS US TO THE EAST SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. SO FOR THE FOOTHILLS AND THE SIERRA, THEY’RE GOING TO NOTICE A TEMPERATURE DROP OVER THE WEEKEND IN THE SIERRA GOING FROM 50 TO HIGHS OF 40. AND THEN THEY’RE GOING TO HOLD ON TO 40S ALL THE WAY THROUGH NEXT WEEK. BUT HERE IN THE VALLEY, THAT SAME SYSTEM IS GOING TO INCREASE. A WIND OUT OF THE NORTH. SO ON SUNDAY WE MIGHT NOTICE A LITTLE BREEZE, BUT THAT BREEZE IS GOING TO SCOUR OUT THE MOISTURE AND HOPEFULLY OUR MORNINGS WON’T BE AS FOGGY. THAT WILL ALLOW OUR AFTERNOONS
