Dogs and cats at San Diego Humane Society’s San Diego and El Cajon campuses received a special holiday meal Thursday as they await their forever homes.

The critters enjoyed a festive lunch prepared and provided by Lionel’s Legacy in partnership with Lionel’s Lunchbox, according to the SDHS.

“We are grateful to Lionel’s Legacy for their generosity and continued dedication to helping senior dogs and shelter pets throughout our region. In addition to visiting San Diego Humane Society today, they also provided meals to dogs at Chula Vista Animal Services and San Diego County Department of Animal Services in Bonita,” the SDHS said.

The SDHS currently has nearly 1,400 pets in its care who need homes, including 683 dogs and 466 cats.
