FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Fresno State is off to the best start for a men’s basketball campaign since the 2021-22 season, which was the last time the Bulldogs reached the postseason.
Holding a 6-2 record after racing past Pepperdine on Thanksgiving Eve, 76-53, the Bulldogs matched last season’s win total in only 24 days.
On Sunday, Fresno State takes a 4-game winning streak to Selland Arena for the first Bulldog basketball game in downtown Fresno since 2009.
Tip-off against CSU Bakersfield is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Selland Arena was the Bulldogs’ home from 1966 to 2003, and the building became synonymous with winning. Fresno State won six conference titles and an NIT championship while playing men’s basketball at Selland.
Head coach Vance Walberg spoke with FOX26 on Friday afternoon to discuss the Bulldogs’ improved play in his second season in charge, plus why he hopes a packed Selland Arena awaits his team.
Tickets for the Return to Selland game are still available here.
