According to a KRON report, the victims were a man, a woman, and a 16-year-old girl. KRON is FOX40’s Bay Area sister station. It is unclear what caused the shooting.
As of 8:45 p.m., SJPD said it was still working to clear the mall.
“Please avoid the area while officers investigate and work to ensure everyone’s safety,” SJPD said.
Additionally, police said that nearby traffic has been “severely impacted.”
San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan expressed disappointment in the incident.
“San Jose — this is not the news I wanted to share with you this holiday weekend,” Mahan said on X. “My prayers are with these victims, and I know our officers are doing everything they can to find the person responsible and hold them accountable.”
No arrests have been made. However, according to law enforcement, there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
