BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A driver died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Elmo Highway and Kendra Street, the McFarland Police Department said.

At 12:58 p.m., officers responded to the intersection regarding a crash. When they arrived, they found two vehicles involved in a crash and determined that one of the drivers had reported significant injuries.

Emergency personnel responded and attempted to save the driver’s life. The driver died at the scene.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s identity at a later time, once the family is notified.

Officers are still investigating the scene as of 2 p.m. Drivers are advised to drive with caution in the area and to expect traffic delays.

Police have not made any arrests at this time.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
