Providence St. Jude Medical Center is experiencing an active investigation related to a bomb threat made to the hospital this morning at approximately 10:58 a.m. This is the second bomb threat the institution has received this month.

As of 1:09 p.m., no explosive devices were found on site and roads surrounding the hospital have been reopened following their cautionary closing.

According to a statement released by the Fullerton Police department, there were Fullerton Police officers at the medical center already on an unrelated call who immediately began investigating the threat when another call reported “multiple bombs at a ‘St. Jude Hospital Child Research Center.’”

They were soon assisted by “outside agencies and explosives-detection canines, to conduct a thorough and systematic search of the facility,” according to the department.

While Providence St. Jude Medical Center is located on 101 E. Valencia Mesa Drive in Fullerton, there is no St. Jude Hospital Child Research Center in the city.

This comes after four Fullerton schools — Fullerton Union High School, Sunny Hills High School, Troy High School and Fern Drive Elementary School — and St. Jude each received a bomb threat on Nov. 13.

“This incident remains under investigation as detectives work to identify the source of the threatening call,” the Fullerton PD statement said. “Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Fullerton Police Department.”
