The White House is planning to shut down parts of Interstate 5 this Friday and Saturday to stage a Marine Corps–themed spectacle during the No Kings Protests, left-leaning media outlet MeidasTouch reported. The proposed I‑5 closures are tied to events under the banner of the 250th anniversary of the US Marine Corps, described by insiders as a “vanity parade.”
Officials report the administration may include live naval missile demonstrations off the California coast, in frightening calls, some say the Navy would fire into Camp Pendleton as a show of force. Vice President JD Vance is expected to lead the parade and will be present during the events.
The Trump administration has not yet commented on the report, and no other major news outlets have corroborated the claims made by MeidasTouch. Times Now Digital cannot independently verify the information.
Vice President JD Vance, a former Marine who enlisted after high school, is set to visit Camp Pendleton on October 18 to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Marine Corps. The celebration will feature live amphibious assault demonstrations and will be attended by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
On the same day, anti-Trump “No Kings” protests are expected to sweep the nation, with demonstrations planned in over 200 cities. In California alone, events are scheduled from Crescent City in the north to El Centro near the Mexico border.
California Officials Respond To Possible Missile Show
Local and state leaders say they were given virtually no notice, coordination, or transparency. California Governor Gavin Newsom took to X to slam the Trump administration, saying, “Donald Trump and JD Vance think that shutting down the I-5 to shoot out missiles from ships is how you respect the military. PUT ASIDE YOUR VANITY PARADE AND PAY OUR TROOPS INSTEAD.”
Newsom also told MeidasTouch that his office is working with local partners to minimize what would be “a massive disruption, and reckless disregard for California’s infrastructure and communities.” MeidasTouch further reported that a senior transportation official deemed the plan “indefensible,” especially during a shutdown.
