Shoots of bright green grass have sprung to life across San Diego County, erasing the region’s drought conditions, says the U.S. Drought Monitor, a weekly survey operated by the federal government.
The eastern part of the county was in extreme drought in late October, and areas west of Interstate 15 were in severe drought, a lower level. The latest monitor review says the entire region is now categorized as abnormally dry.
San Diego International Airport received 3.51 inches of rain from Oct. 1 through Nov. 30, which is 2.22 inches above normal. Most of that rain fell in November.
Scattered showers are possible on Wednesday and Thursday if winds from a low-pressure system offshore track through the county, the National Weather Service says.
