Sacramento Regional Transit rolled out its festive 2025 Holiday Bus on Monday to spread holiday cheer and give back to a nonprofit focused on uplifting foster youth.

The bus, unveiled Monday at Stanford Sierra Youth & Families in Sacramento, will offer free rides through Jan. 2. Riders are encouraged to donate any amount on board the bus or online to support programs for foster children across the region.

This year, SacRT partnered with Stanford Sierra Youth & Families, a nonprofit that serves more than 2,800 foster youth and provides essential mental health support to keep children connected to their siblings or other relatives. The majority of the youth they serve are teenagers.

SacRT officials said the Holiday Bus is also a chance to raise awareness and encourage community members to adopt a foster youth, volunteer in a mentorship program, or contribute in other ways.

This holiday season, community members can also help “Stuff the Bus” with toys and gift cards that will go directly to foster youth. That event takes place on Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Sunrise Light Rail station in Rancho Cordova.
