NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified the driver killed in a crash that shut down Interstate 40 for hours during post-Thanksgiving holiday travel over the weekend.

Police said that the semi-truck driver killed has been identified as 65-year-old Aniceto Trujillo, of Denair, California.

Trujillo was involved in a two-vehicle crash on I-40 West and Briley Parkway on Sunday afternoon.

Police said the crash was reported at about noon. The preliminary investigation and video evidence indicate that the driver of a Toyota Corolla failed to negotiate a turn while entering I-40 West from the Briley Parkway exit ramp and drove into the side of a semi-truck.

The collision caused the truck to overturn while the Corolla continued off the roadway and into a ravine. The driver of the Corolla was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He has been identified as 18-year-old Mero Abdallah, of Mt. Juliet. MNPD said there was no evidence of impairment at the scene.
