The Food Science and Nutrition Department is providing free grocery shopping tours for the Fresno community. The shopping tours will focus on the importance of fruits and vegetables.
The Bulldogs in the Grocery Store (BIGS) tours will end on Dec. 9 and take place at the Save Mart Center, according to the BIGS sign-up sheet.
Attendees will learn cooking tips and nutritional facts about fresh produce and dried, canned, frozen or juice products. A 5$ cookbook created by students will be available for purchase toward the end of the tours.
The tours host eight attendees at most, and the tour guides are nutrition and dietetic students. The tour sessions are free and are one hour long. BIGS will also be offering tours in Spanish, according to the BIGS Instagram account.
Students can sign up for BIGS with the link provided. Students pick a time slot that works best for them and will meet with their corresponding tour guide, who will be wearing a blue apron at the front entrance of the grocery store.
