‘Suspect is down’ after freeway shooting involving Sacramento deputies, officials say

A freeway shooting involving at least one deputy with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office happened Tuesday morning, the agency said. Traffic is now shut down in the area.Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said the shooting happened along Interstate 5 near Thornton Road in San Joaquin County just south of Highway 12. Gandhi said personnel with the sheriff’s office are involved, but he is not sure if personnel from other agencies are involved.All deputies are OK, and the “suspect is down” with unknown injuries.Caltrans said I-5 is closed to southbound traffic at the Highway 12 junction in San Joaquin County due to law enforcement activity.This is a developing story.
