BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The U.S. Forest Service announced that a prescribed burn is planned on Breckenridge Mountain on Wednesday, December 3, and Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Officials said the burn will be five acres of piles containing timber slash remnants and roadside hazardous fuels.
Smoke may be visible on the southwest aspect of the mountain facing the Bakersfield and Tehachapi areas.
Fire and fuels personnel are working in close coordination with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to minimize smoke impacts to nearby communities.
