BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — 37-year-old Manuel Robles, who is accused of shooting and killing his wife before crashing his truck in northwest Bakersfield, pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday afternoon.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at around 9:23 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 6200 block of Tallulah Falls Court for a possible shooting that had just happened.

Responding officers found a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, dead at the scene.

Police said at around 9:24 p.m., officers were called to a report of a crash at the intersection of Hageman Road and Calloway Drive. It was determined that the crash was related to the investigation at Tallulah Falls Court.

According to police, during the investigation, detectives arrested Robles for murder.

Sources confirmed with Eyewitness News that the suspect and victim were married and reportedly in the process of a divorce.

Robles pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, December 2. He was given no bail and is expected back in court on December 12.

A GoFundMe was created for the victim. Her name was not identified but said, “My Nephews are having to face life after a tragic incident of losing their mother due to domestic violence and father’s incarceration. Their world has been shattered, and are now left to navigate life without the love and guidance their mother always provided. As they work through trauma no child should ever go through , we’re asking for help in support to covering basic living needs, schooling and counseling that can help guide them in their grieving.”
