BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The City of Bakersfield is hosting two Community Listening Sessions on Tuesday, December 9, for feedback ahead of searching for a new Chief of Police.
It comes as Chief Greg Terry announced his retirement, effective April 2026.

City officials said that before the search begins, City Manager Christian Clegg wants to hear from the public what they want to see in the next chief.
City Manager Clegg will host two Community Listening Sessions to receive public feedback on the qualities and priorities the City should look for in a chief.
There will be two Community Listening Sessions on Tuesday, December 9.
The first will be in-person at noon at the Council Chambers, City Hall South, located at 1501 Truxtun Avenue.
The second will be virtual at 7 p.m. through Microsoft Teams. The link can be found by clicking here.
City officials said these meetings will be open, welcoming spaces for residents to share their thoughts on what should be prioritized in the search for a new police chief and the feedback will help guide the search process.
