SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco police have released a photo of a “person of interest” in an assault that left a man in a coma in September.

The man was involved in an argument with another person just before 5:50 p.m. in the 4600 block of Mission Street on Sept. 27, the San Francisco Police Department said.

That argument turned into a fight, which left the man with life-threatening injuries, police said, adding that the man is now in a coma.

On Tuesday, the SFPD announced that they needed the public’s help in locating and identifying a person of interest. It’s unclear why the man is wanted for questioning. Police did not say whether they were a potential suspect or witness.

The department released a photo of the person they’re trying to locate and identify. The picture, which appears to have been captured through a surveillance camera, shows the person wearing a black hat, a black shirt with the sleeves cut off, grey pants and boots.

The SFPD declined to provide further details on the assault due to the investigation being active.

The SFPD asks that anyone with more information contact Sgt. Hamdy Habib at 415-553-7921.
