FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — With her father sitting shackled, convicted of killing her mother, a tense scene unfolded at the Fresno County Courthouse on Thursday.
“You took away the only good parent your children had,” she said.
Action News cannot name or show her. She went on to say she wants nothing to do with her dad.
“Every single one of his children hates him,” she said. “Every single one of us finds you and your actions unforgivable and disgusting.”
Antonio Saldana Jr. sat slumped over with his foot shaking. The 41-year-old is convicted of killing his estranged wife, Lisa, in 2021.
The violence unfolded with their children at home,
“Our community lost a very good mother, a very good daughter, they lost a medical professional,” Fresno County Superior Court Judge William Terrence said. “Our community lost a friend.”
A jury was days away from hearing evidence in October when Saldana pleaded guilty, giving up his years-long fight following the shooting that led to a murder charge for Lisa and an attempted murder charge for her partner.
Saldana agreed to 18 years to life in state prison.
“He’s not asking anyone to feel sorry for him,” defense attorney Michael McKneely said. “He’s here, eyes open. He knows what he’s doing, and he accepted responsibility for this.”
Saldana neither spoke nor apologized.
His attorney looked back at the victims in the gallery, but Saldana did not. Instead, the family’s nanny turned to address him.
“I hope you spend every day of your life reliving that night over and over again,” Jenna said. “I hope it haunts you the way it has haunted all of us who loved her.”
Jenna told the judge and Saldana that Lisa will live on through her children.
“When I look at them, all I see is their mother,” Jenna said. “The boys are loving, outgoing, and full of life. The girls are independent, beautiful, strong, and dramatic, but in the best way, exactly like Lisa.”
Saldana gave up his right to appeal the sentence as part of his plea agreement.
The judge also ordered that he has no contact with each of his five children for at least three years.
