2026 is shaping up to be a good year for Nob Hill. A classic hotel is returning to the neighborhood, bringing old-school glory with it.
After closing indefinitely in 2020, The Huntington Hotel, the 100-year-old destination that has housed illustrious guests like Princess Margaret and the Rolling Stones, will reopen in the spring. The revival is led by Greg Flynn, founder and CEO of Flynn Properties, and Highgate, a hospitality investment and management company.
The pair acquired The Huntington after former owner Woodridge Capital defaulted on its $56.2 million mortgage in 2022 and have undertaken a major renovation.

“As a native San Franciscan, I’m proud to announce the next chapter of The Huntington,” Flynn said in a statement. “The hotel plays an integral role in the fabric of San Francisco, a place where locals gather and travelers from around the world experience the special nature of Nob Hill.”
Local designer extraordinaire Ken Fulk spearheaded the redesign of the interiors, highlighting the hotel’s Georgian roots. The new Huntington will have 143 rooms and a nearly 1,500-square-foot penthouse. Fulk also reimagined the hotel’s famed Nob Hill Spa as a three-level wellness destination. The restaurant, The Big 4, which will reopen in its 50th anniversary year, also received a makeover, with a revamped menu, updated dining space, and a new bar, Arabella’s.
“The Huntington has a built-in legacy for gracious suites, a beloved restaurant, and the most luxurious spa in town,” Fulk said in a statement. “Our goal is to return that glean to our city’s crown jewel by reimagining it as a grand residence with destinations for repeat visitors and locals alike.”
With that, another sign that the post-pandemic gloom is lifting.
